Why This Reference Exists
Union’s historic directory volumes, parcel records, deed index, voter-status route, and municipal files have different keepers and different limits. A property instrument can show a recorded party but not every occupant. A library volume can place a household in one year but cannot verify a present address. We assembled the office routes, collection dates, access notes, and search terms so a family-history, estate, civic, or address-history question starts with the right custodian.
What the Directory Organizes
- Search paths by question: Streets for address-led sources, City Directory for historical volumes, and Resident Lookup for a name-focused verification trail.
- Custodian details: the Assessor, County Clerk, elections office, court system, vital-records offices, and library collections.
- Practical record methods: an address chain, a directory-year comparison, and a way to preserve dates and source limits.
- Access boundaries: New Jersey public-records rules, protected fields, request routes, and the difference between an index and a certified record.
What This Service Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference service, not a Union Township office, Union County department, New Jersey agency, court, or library. Its limits are intentional:
- We cannot verify that a named person presently lives in Union Township.
- We cannot retrieve, certify, amend, or authenticate a government record for you.
- We cannot place a person on, or remove one from, an official roll or database.
- We do not provide legal advice about a record, request, or dispute.
- We cannot guarantee that an office schedule, link, coverage period, or fee remains unchanged.
Only the record custodian can confirm, certify, or correct an official entry. Material here is not a consumer report and may not be used for any purpose regulated by the FCRA.
